Welcome to Third Grade Art!
Third Grade artists will build upon some of the basic skills learned in the younger grades and challenge themselves with more advanced color theory learning about tints and shades and even more than one artist at at time. Third graders will also learn how to create texture and show form to create drawings that look 3-dimensional. Artists in this grade will try new materials and techniques, have more artistic choices, critique both their artwork and their classmates and continue to learn about new artists and movements.
Third grade artists created Self-Portraits inspired by Pablo Picasso. Their portraits were divided in half and they used Realism on One half and Cubism (which is a type of Abstraction) on the other.
Figure Drawing & Sculpture For this project, third graders learned how to draw people using stick figures and simple shapes. Artists then built on their knowledge by drawing a picture of their hero using the same techniques as part of reading week! Then, they learned how to sculpt their hero and make them 3d using tin foil and paint. |
